Happy 250th Birthday, USA!

Our new Harmony Group prepared a selection of patriotic songs to perform for us as we celebrate the nation’s 250th birthday!
It'll be a fun celebration of America's 250th birthday. Hint: there's kazoos involved!
If joining us for lunch (Pub Burger OR Beer Battered Fish, Red Potato Salad, Watermelon Wedge & Strawberry Shortcake), please make your reservation by noon on Wednesday, 7/1. Lunch is at 11:45AM.

Farmer's Market Coupons
Tuesday, July 21, 9:30 – 11:00AM
Farmer’s Market Coupons are vouchers that can be exchanged for produce at local farmers’ markets. The program assists individuals who meet age and income guidelines with buying fresh produce.
Eligible individuals can receive one booklet per year.
Eligibility requirements:
- Provide proof of age (must be age 60 or older)
- Be a New York State resident
- Have a Broome County Office for Aging ID Card with you or fill out an ID application onsite
AND meet the following income guidelines (proof of income not required):
- $2,461/month (for a 1-person household); or
- $3,337/month (for a 2-person household); or
- $4,212/month (for a 3-person household).

JCSC Art Show

Join our JCSC artists from our watercolor painting class and our oil painting class for a special exhibit of their artwork.
Some of the artwork will be available to purchase.

Johnson City Carousel Day

At CFJ Park in Johnson City
The Johnson City Rotary Club hosts the JC Carousel Day at CFJ Park. It’s a free, family-friendly event with entertainment, food and fun!
There will also be a variety of local community service organizations. We’ll be there, with the Broome County Office for Aging, so stop by to say hello!
The day kicks off with the CFJ Carousel 5K at 10:00AM, hosted by Confluence Running. It’s followed by a Kid’s Fun Run at 11:30AM. For info, contact Confluence Running at 607-217-4155.

NEW! Greeting Card Workshop
Wednesday, August 19, 2:00 – 3:30PM
Learn how to make greeting cards with card-making afficionado Susan Steele. You’ll make two unique cards with precut materials. Cards will be assembled during class; some coloring, embossing, or die-cutting may be involved.
Class will be the third Wednesday of the month at 2:00PM. The first class is Wednesday, August 19.
Fee of $8 required for materials for two cards & instructor fee. Class limited to 8 participants; please register with the receptionist.

Widows & Widowers Support Group

This is a support group for Widows and Widowers to help navigate the grieving process.
The group is facilitated by Kathy Sheehan and Roxanne Chalker. They focus on positivity and share topics the group wants to discuss.
The group meets every other Tuesday.

LGBTQ+ Senior Social Hour

Sponsored by Broome County Office for Aging
This social group hopes to establish a safe space to provide helpful, positive and supportive social interactions amongst local LGBTQ+ older adults.
They aim to promote dignity, caring and problem solving within the community by collaborating with local agencies in hopes of providing resources unique to the needs of the group.
The group is facilitated by Robert Hoover, local artist, retired magazine industry professional and Office for Aging Advisory Board Member.
This group meets the third Wednesday of every month.

Dementia Caregiver Support Group

This group is for caregivers of people living with Alzheimer's disease and dementia.
This support groups offers a way to:
- Develop a support system.
- Exchange practical information on challenges and possible solutions.
- Talk through issues and ways of coping.
- Share feelings, needs and concerns.
- Learn about community.
This group meets the third Wednesday of every month.

Art Workshop
Friday, July 31 10:00AM – 12:00PM
This month, it’s a “Rock Art Painting Contest.”
Pre-decorated rocks will be disqualified. Bring:
- Your own rocks to paint.
- Materials to decorate.
- 1 new or gently-used unwanted item to donate as a prize.
Due to this being an instructional class, please arrive within 5 minutes of the start time.
The August workshop is Friday, 8/21.

Southern Tier Orchid Society
Sunday, September 20
The group is on summer recess for July and August.
They meet the third Sunday of the month from September through May from 2:00 - 4:00PM. Social time begins at 1:30PM.
The group aims to enhance your knowledge and improve your experience with raising orchids. The meetings feature a scheduled guest speaker or other activities to help with you, such as their annual repotting workshop.
Their annual Orchid Show is in May at the Center.
