We use Hale Transportation as our travel partner given their friendly service and clean, comfortable buses. We've been using them for over five years.

Our trips are customized so they're unique and geared towards seniors.

All our trips are open to the public so you don't have to be a member of the Johnson City Senior Center to join us! You also don't have to be a senior to join our trips. We've had children and grandchildren join us, depending on the trip.

If you are a member of our Center, you'll enjoy a $10 savings on any trip you're taking.

Adirondack Train Ride to Old Forge

Our train aficionado, Dorothy Blasko, is your escort today. We’ve done this before and it’s worth doing again, but with a twist. You’ll see; you’ll love it.

Depart the Center at 6:30AM and arrive in Utica to board the Adirondack Railroad train car for a round trip train ride to Old Forge. We’ll have first class seating in a private car where we’ll have breakfast sandwiches and a beverage. We’ll arrive at Thendara station at noon, take a shuttle to Old Forge, have lunch ($25 meal money included) and shop, before taking the shuttle back to the train at 4:00PM. Don’t be late, the train leaves at 4:30PM. Enjoy a beverage and Hors D’oeuvres on our return to Union Station in Utica. We’ll have dinner in a local restaurant (on your own), then return to the Center at approximately 10:00PM.

Maine Lobster Festival

Day 1 – July 31: Depart from the Center at 6:00AM and travel north. After a fast-food stop, we’ll arrive in Freeport, Maine for lunch ($20 meal money included) and shopping.

We’ll continue to our hotel for the next three nights: the Brunswick Hotel. There is a welcome reception, then we’ll have time to relax before dinner at the hotel.

Day 2 – August 1: After our included breakfast at the hotel, we’ll enjoy a puffin and scenic nature cruise on Linekin Bay. Back at the hotel, we’ll have free time for lunch in the village ($20 meal money included). Later in the afternoon, we’ll tour the Pemaquid Lighthouse and Fisherman Museum. We’ll feast on a lobster dinner tonight at a local restaurant before returning to the hotel.

Day 3 – August 2: After our breakfast at the hotel, we’ll take a short drive to Rockland, Maine for the World Famous Maine Lobster Festival. We have until mid-afternoon to enjoy the parade and all the festival has to offer. Lunch is on your own while we are here. Possibly a Lobster Roll?

We’ll depart mid-afternoon and visit Owls Head Transportation Museum. After the museum, we'll return to the hotel to freshen up before another choice lobster dinner at a local restaurant.

Day 4 – August 3: Breakfast is at our hotel again this morning before we depart for home; but not before stopping at Stonewall Kitchens this morning. We’ll stop for our included lunch at the Roundabout Diner in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, then stop at Hebert’s Candies in Shrewsbury, Massachusetts for one more treat. We’ll have a fast-food stop before arriving back at the Center at approximately 9:00PM.

Skaneateles Dinner Cruise

What’s better than a relaxing dinner cruise on a hot summer night? Skaneateles has that answer!

Join Debbie Isaak on this memorable evening. Depart the Center at 2:00PM. After a brief stop, you’ll arrive in Skaneateles at approximately 4:00PM. Browse the shops for an hour before boarding the Judge Ben Niles Vessel for your cruise.

We just received dinner entree choices and they sound delicious! We'll start with Clam Chowder for our appetizer. Choose from Prime Rib au jus, Pan-Seared Salmon, or Tuscan Chicken with Herb Sauce for your entree. All come with Au Gratin Potatoes and a Veggie. Vegetable Lasagna is also available on request. The cruise runs from 6:00 to 8:30PM. After the cruise, we’ll reboard our bus and return to the Center at approximately 10:30PM.

The Not-So-Mystery Tour

We'll depart the Center at 8:00AM and travel to Cooperstown for a guided tour of Hyde Hall, famous for its neoclassical architecture and scenic view of Otsego Lake. This historic mansion was built for George Clark, a wealthy landowner, between 1817 and 1834. It was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1986.

Following the tour, we’ll travel to the Otesaga Resort in Cooperstown for a buffet lunch.

The highlight of the day is a trip on the Erie Canal in Herkimer, NY, an hour away. There will also be time for shopping at the “Gems Along the Mohawk” store at the dock area before heading back to the Center. We’ll stop for a quick fast food break and arrive back at the Center at approximately 8:00PM.

Progressive Lunch

We’ll depart the Center at 7:30AM and travel to Waterloo to visit the Muranda Cheese Company. From there, we’ll travel to Canandaigua and board the Canandaigua Lady for our box lunch cruise. Choices are Chicken Caesar Wrap, Roast Beef Wrap, Turkey Wrap or Veggie Wrap. After the cruise, we’ll head to Skaneateles and Strawberry Fields Hydroponic Farm for a tour and refreshments. Plymouth, Massachusetts & Jack-O'-Lantern Spectacular

Wednesday, October 16 – Friday, October 18, 2024

Day 1 – October 16: Depart the Center at 6:00AM and travel toward Plymouth. We’ll stop briefly at a rest area before arriving at the Plymouth Plantation for a traditional turkey dinner and tour of Pilgrim Village.

We’ll have a “photo op” at Plymouth Rock, then continue to Carver, Massachusetts and visit a Cranberry Bog to see how cranberries are harvested.

Amish Christmas in Lancaster

Join Lucy Baker for Christmas in Amish country, a special time of year to visit the Lancaster area.

Day 1 – December 3: Depart from the Center at 8:00AM. We’ll stop at a rest area along the way, before we have lunch at the Cocoa Diner in Hershey ($20 meal money included). After lunch, we’ll continue to Middletown, Pennsylvania and visit the National Christmas Center.

We’ll continue to our hotel for the next two nights: Best Western Eden Resort. We’ll have time to relax before going to the Dutch Apple Theater for a buffet dinner and performance of “White Christmas”.

Day 2 – December 4: After our included breakfast at the hotel, we’ll meet our local step-on guide and tour Amish farmlands, then stop at an Amish quilt and craft shop, as well as a mystery stop. We’ll stop at Kitchen Kettle Village where we can enjoy lunch ($20 meal money included) and browse the shops.

Depart the Center at 6:30AM. We’ll stop at a rest area en route to Harrisburg for a full day of shopping. A buffet lunch, which is included, begins at 11:00AM and runs the entire afternoon. Shop in the morning, break for lunch, then shop some more! How fun is that?

We’ll leave at 4:00PM, stop for fast-food, and arrive back at the Center at approximately 8:00PM.

Savannah & the Golden Isles

March 2025

This 8-day, 7-night trip will take us to St. Simons Island, Jekyll Island and Savannah, Georgia. We haven’t confirmed the details yet but this will be our longest and most upscale trip yet. Our tentative itinerary is packed full of exciting things: we’ll see both islands, visit Okefenokee Swamp and enjoy all the southern charm of Savannah.

Price will be announced with the full itinerary later this year. Pictures are not foreshadowing the itinerary; they're the work of a imaginative webmaster!

A $100 deposit will hold your spot and is refundable up until final payment date.
