Frequently asked questions

  • Why does the Johnson City Senior Center have a membership fee when the other Senior Centers don't?

While we are one of eight Senior Centers in Broome County, New York, we are an independent, 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Your membership fee is a vital part of our funding and helps support our Center and the programs and services we offer.

Although we are a membership-based organization, no older adult will be denied access to our Center due to inability to pay. Fee waivers and installment plans are available to remove financial barriers and ensure equitable access to services that support health, nutrition, social connection, and independent living.

You do NOT need to be a member of our Center to participate in the lunch program.

Everyone is welcome. A reservation is required.

  • Can I can a get a tour of the Center?

Yes, we’d love to give you a tour! It’s a great way for us to showcase our Center and talk about the programs and activities we offer. Please feel free to stop by Tuesday – Friday for a tour.

Those under age 60 are charged $5.00 per meal.

SNAP benefits (EBT cards) can be used for lunch. See the front desk for assistance.
